Thanks Suzanne – that's a great question! And thank you for starting comments in this topic.
One thing I'm intersted in is Father's rights, or lack thereof. For example, in Japan, if the mother has custody of the children, the father essentially has NO RIGHTS WHATSOEVER. Not even visitation of any kind.
There was a case recently where a woman ran off with her kids to Japan, and the dad has been trying desperately to just see them and tell them he loves them – to no avail.
There was also a story in the news a few months back about a guy who was thrown in jail for not paying child support on kids that weren't even his. The wife got pregnant by some other guy just after they were married, but they way the law is written, the (now ex)husband was still liable for the support.
Then there is also the concription(kidnapping?) of boys/men into military service against their will to fight for warlords. In cases of genocide / mass murder, it's often the men that are rounded up for execution.
Things like that. Any other ideas would be most welcome!
